Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia Research Management Centre (YRMC) continues to advance and sustain the dakwah movement. The centre, under the Institutional Family and Socio-Cultural Expert Group led by Prof. Dr. Sharifah Hayaati Syed Ismail from University of Malaya, organized the development workshop for the Mental Health Solutions from the Dakwah Perspective Module (SMILED) for Phase 2: Training of Trainers Workshop and Phase 3: Community Outreach on 2 December in Putrajaya. The workshop was led by YRMC Chairman, Datuk Dr. Harlina Halizah Siraj. The Chief Executive Officer of YADIM, Ustaz Zamri Zainal Abidin, was invited to deliver the keynote address for the opening of the SMILED Module Workshop. He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the panel of experts involved in developing the module, which will serve as a community reference for training and enhancing skills in addressing mental health issues from the perspective of dakwah. Also present in the expert group were Prof. Dr. Khadijah Mohd Khambali @ Hambali (Director of the Centre for Civilisational Dialogue, University of Malaya), Prof. Dr. Sajaratulnisah Othman (Medical Specialist, University of Malaya), Assoc. Prof. Dr. A’dawiyah Ismail from National University of Malaysia, Dr. Zurina Abdul Hamid, Deputy Secretary (Services) of the Public Service Commission of Malaysia, Dr. Norli Abdul Jabbar from the National Centre of Excellence for Mental Health (NCEMH), Ministry of Health Malaysia, Dr. Saramah Mohd Isa, Forensic Psychiatry Specialist at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, and Ustazah Suhaizam Sulaiman from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). Also in attendance were Dr. Masitah Esa, Head of the Dakwah Research Unit (UPD), along with officers Cik Siti Afiza Iman, Ustazah Cik Husna Saifulzaman, and Encik Aniq Muqri Mohammad. The objectives of this workshop were to refine feedback on the module’s content quality, gather field experts to review and develop the module, and finalize the coordination of the SMILED Module before it is used by participants. The SMILED Module consists of four main units: mental health, Islamic psycho-spirituality, dakwah solutions, and evaluation. This workshop marked the continuation of the second phase following the completion of the first phase, namely the SMILED Symposium held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur on 15 October. It is hoped that the collaboration between YADIM and experts from various agencies will result in a comprehensive and high-quality module, and that this dakwah effort will continue to succeed in nurturing a society that is mentally and physically well-developed and prosperous.
